Before the Shots - Preparing for an Active Killer Incident
January 26, 2017 at 2pm EST
Zach Winn, Associate Editor, Campus Safety Magazine
Steven Lopez, Chief of Police, New Mexico State University Police Department
In this FREE one-hour Campus Safety webcast, attendees will learn the importance of networking with other entities/agencies, creating training plans, use of force-on-force training for security staff, medical training for bystanders and responders, and planning for the aftermath.
While many institutions have been preparing for active shooter incidents for close to a decade, there is continual change in the threat environment as attackers learn from past incidents and from violent extremist materials.
At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
Identify common primary and secondary hazards related to active killer events
Integrate active killer incidents to an All-Hazards plan
Prepare staff to respond to active killer incidents
Put into place an exercise and evaluation system to test and improve the plan
