On December 7, 2016, OSHA published a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register to solicit feedback from healthcare and social assistance providers on prevention of workplace violence (WPV).
While OSHA as previously published guidelines for WPV prevention, the RFI is aimed to assess the need for a standard on WPV to clarify employer obligations and the measures necessary to protect employees. Questions posed in the RFI address the scope of the problem in these industries; common risk factors; interventions and controls; and the efficacy, feasibility and cost of different options. Comments must be submitted on or before April 6, 2017. See the Federal Register Notice for more information.
