On Friday, April 1st, over 300 officials from local, state, and federal jurisdictions were welcomed by the CDC to an all day summit in order to prepare for a Zika virus response in the U.S. The summit was organized and held to assist in the identification of weak points in preparedness and to provide tools to improve Zika response efforts.
Congress was call on during the summit to approve President Obama’s $1.9 billion request to fight the spread of the Zika virus. But, while some call for new money to be put toward Zika response, others call for re-appropriation of emergency Ebola funding.
