The newsletter is called The Exchange and promises to be a place, "where emergency health professionals share firsthand experiences, information, and resources while examining the disaster medicine, healthcare system preparedness, and public health emergency preparedness issues that are important to the field".
The first issue includes articles from authors with experience in local, state, and federal Crisis Standards of Care (CSC) planning. ASPR TRACIE staff interviewed Dr. Ernest Yeh, an Emergency Department Physician who responded to the May 2015 Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia PA. Next, Dr. Suzet McKinney describes the Chicago and State of Illinois Planning process and future endeavors related to CSC. Finally, Dr. Dan Hanfling and Dr. John Hick provide an overview of CSC planning, including common issues state and local planners may face during the development process and how to address them.
